We have had rain for the last few days which has been good for all the newly planted and transplanted things in the garden. I had ruthlessly pruned the lilac and the Philadelphus in the hopes that this year they might perfom better and even flower. The lilac is bursting into leaf with a vengeance but I fear I might have been a tad too brutal with the Philadelphus as it isn't showing much sign of life yet!

The tulips are coming along spendidly and will be in flower soon at this rate. The daffodils were a disappointment and the crocuses bloomed very early and were over and gone before I really noticed them. Digging in the earth I have found last years Dahlia corms and miracle of miracles they would appear to be healthy and might produce again this year. I have buried them in compost to keep them moist and will look at them again in a few weeks to see if there are any buds on them.

After Easter I will go to the garden centre and get some plants and seeds. The far corner in the garden where the honeysuckle grows is a problem to me as nothing wants to grow there. It is damp and dark and even ferns don't like it! Perhaps a statue!

Moving !

I have moved my blog from Wordpress as I just couldn't get on with it. For a start it was forever changing my password and they were impossible to remember! I know what I am doing on Blogspot!

The weather has continued to be warm and lovely with plenty of sun. I have planted herbs in the newly dug over bed above. So far I have thyme, angelica, lovage, lemon balm, dill, fennel, oregano and marjoram. I will add parsley and coriander. I have mint, both spearmint and peppermint but they are in tubs as the roots are quite invasive. My son's fiancee sent me some herb seeds today. They included arnica. I have never grown this before and reading the instructions I'm not sure if I will be growing it now as it takes a lot of fiddling to get it right and then it might take two years to germinate!
