At last a bit of rain but not enough! However it was enough to keep me inside so I did some much needed dyeing. I had been nearly cleaned out by my students and a local shop so this was a much needed thing to do. And I love dyeing. I use nature as an inspiration with colour and shapes as you can see from the pieces below.
This one was inspired by my hydrangeas last year. They were the most amazing colours and the green leaves just set them off. The piece below reminds me of a Georgia O'Keefe painting of a flower.
The piece above was inspired by a heap of logs waiting to be chopped up and was one of those serendipity pieces where everything just came together and worked!
I called the one above Rose Garden but actually it reminds me more of my Sweet Williams or even Dianthus. And the piece below reminds me of tubs of water with algae at the bottom!
This last piece was dye-painted and inspired by nasturtiums. It sold like hot cakes! Tomorrow hopefully I'll be able to be outside for a while at least and have more garden topics to report on. Now to wash out the batch I've just dyed. It is so exciting to see what I've produced!

Rain here too for much of the day. Wish that I had been so creative but did some much needed housework instead :) Glorious colours especially the hydrangea inspired piece. What sort of fabrics do you use Valeri ?
ReplyDeletelovely textiles! Love the color choices.
ReplyDeleteThey are all so pretty, you are very talented!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful work! I can see your inspirations shining through! Sun is out here today -- thankfully...
ReplyDeleteI also turned to my other hobby whilst it was raining, genealogy. I wonder how many gardeners have rainy weather hobbies too.
ReplyDeleteOh, how beautiful! Valeri, your work IS BEAUTIFUL! The first one would be my pick, but I love all of them!
ReplyDeleteYou've captured the natural shadings beautifully. They are all so unique, from the intricate texture of the log to the exuberant florals.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all your comments. I really enjoy my dyeing and I've been dyeing and selling fabric for so long now that I can almost do it in my sleep! I'm glad you liked the pieces I posted.
