Waiting, I’m always waiting!

It seems to me that I spend quite a lot of time in my garden waiting! Waiting for seeds to germinate; waiting for blossoms and flowers to open; waiting for fruit to ripen; waiting for rain; waiting for sun; just generally hanging around waiting!

These are a few of the things I’m waiting for at the moment. The lilies to bloom; the rose buds to open; the hydrangea to blossom; the marigolds to flower; the flowers on the feverfew to open out; the borage to bloom; the English Mace to flower; the Sweet Williams to flower; and last but not least the lavender needs to open soon! Most of these plants have been ready to flower for weeks but have been hanging fire. Perhaps they will all get a move on this weekend when the sun comes out!

I was fascinated DSCF0024by this picture of an emerging Fennel frond. It looks quite futuristic!  And this close up of a Borage flowerDSCF0023 head waiting to open was amazing! Nature is pretty wonderful!

  1. I know exactly what you mean! But, I think plants can be beautiful at all stages: when the buds are on the trees, but before they bloom, -- even in the winter when all the leaves are gone and we just see bare branches. We are waiting for the next phase, but it's always good where we are at the moment!

  2. I know how you feel, I seem to have a whole lot of green in the garden and very little else.

The spring flowers have gone/dying off and now I'm waiting for the summer ones to come through... grrrrr I hate this waiting game!

  3. Us gardeners must be patient folk but quite often the anticipation is just as enjoyable as the actual event :)

  4. Lol, the thing that I am waiting for is the first (and only) bloom on my day lily, and every day I rush to see if it will be to-day.

  5. Hi Valeri! You just stop waiting and they all will open! I went to a short trip, came back and saw everything blooming. I am scared - if everything is blooming now, what will I have in bloom in July and August?!

  6. Hi Valeri! I totally know what you mean. Same here, waiting seems like a big part of gardening sometimes haha. And I must thank Anna and Tatyana for reminding to see the anticipation in a happy positive way :)

  7. Janet and Tatyana you are so right but I am so impatient! :-) I'm sure you know what I mean Sandy! Karen, Liz and Anna like you I think that anticipation is what makes it all such fun but it sure is hard to wait!

  8. Anticpation! That's the fun of gardening. Murrel looks good and for a brief moment I thought the fennel was a birds head and beak!
